Designing values: Meaningful Digital Transformation

Anupriya Sarala

Do we know why we need digital transformation in Healthcare? Why organizations are transforming? How we can reduce the anxiety of clinicians. There may be a lot of similar questions when you hear Digital transformation and EHR implementations. .Having a framework and a list of identified imperatives are vital during the start of EHR implementations. Collaboration with the client should be on top priority to learn their current systems, processes and concerns in the early stages of the project. When it comes to the design phase, where the focus should be on the imperatives of the project, why the client has chosen EHR implementation, what issues they are trying to solve, how to help the client achieving their operational and regulatory performance indicators etc. New and updated workflows, policies and system should be designed to support delivering values to the client. Value check should be done post implementation to asses end user satisfaction, KPI trends and to analyze opportunities for improvement .Designing the system aligned to day to day task of clinicians with efficiency tools can win the heart of the users. Involvement of clinicians in the early stages of implementation as SMEs (Subject Mater Experts), Informatics specialist etc, may ease the process of adoption. Innovative and interactive training delivery is crucial to achieve successful implementation. Post implementation checks, visualizes the value delivery and set new goals for further progress. Implementation of meaningful solutions with user-friendly and simple design are key of successful digital transformation and adoption in healthcare.
