Smoking is a serious health hazard has long been recognized, worldwide. Several studies have been carried out pointing towards the causal relationship between smoking and mortality. It has also come to light through studies across that use of cigarettes has declined in high income countries but has shown an increasing trend in low- and middle-income countries. Uzbekistan is one such country located in the heart of Central Asia, once famous for silk route, where post-independence smoking of cigarettes has increased after the state-owned tobacco company was taken over by the British American Tobacco company(BAT), which manipulated the government into withdrawing /restricting the sales of tobacco
