Porcelain fused to metal crown repair

Nidal Fararjah

Through the years of persistent clinical practice, we seem to have PFM prosthesis free from any cracked, chipped, broken, or fractured lines. Since, this is the main complaint we received along our patients even after giving instructions on how to take care of their prosthesis, made all the necessary precautions, and performed the standard clinical and laboratory procedures. The clinical repairing of PFM pontic of the bridge is an option of the dentist in order to help the patient to save money from other expensive procedures and to lessen their visits to the clinic as well. Comprehensive analysis of the case is needed to determine the correct diagnosis of the fracture whether it was cohesive or adhesive to make the best choice of the material and its repairing method. The dentist should preserve any remaining shelf of the old fractured prosthesis as much as it could be in medio-distal measurement in the incisal third. The dentist should also have the necessary knowledge of the different bonding systems and its indications to achieve the optimal bonding through repairing.
